Why I Chose This Spot:
While running errands, I decided to stop for lunch. I really like history (and comfort food).
Note: One of the oldest buildings located in the heart of Historic Downtown Rosenberg, The Vogelsang building was built in 1910 by Jacob Gray. This building was leased by Louis A. Vogelsang in 1912 for his general merchandise business. Vogelsang bought the property in 1922, and continued to operate his store at this site until 1947. The Vogelsang building has been kept in the family since 1912.
First Impressions:
This eatery is is located inside of an extremely old building, so I was stoked about going in. You actually enter the restaurant through the General Store.
The Menu:
They have a menu for Brunch, Lunch, and Supper.
What I ordered:
While perusing the Lunch menu, the bartender (I'd sat at the bar), mentioned that they were offering a special, which I chose. (They only had two more after I received mine.) It was their version of Fish & Chips, and included 4 large Fried Shrimp. The "chips" were nicely seasoned.
The Food:
Everything was delicious, and prepared decently. I feel that the chef missed an opportunity with the breading (on the fish and shrimp). It was a bit heavy, and separated from the protein too easily.
Value for Money:
The
prices are fairly standard. Overall, I feel that this is good, and the portion was decent for a Fat Paramedic. I dropped a 20 on this special.
Would I Return?
Absolutely. The food twas tasty and the price/portion was fair.
