Why I Chose This Spot:
Back in 2013 or so, I came up with a New Year's resolution. Once a month, I'm going to try an eatery that I've never tried before. Some of these eateries I have found simply be driving by. Some of them have been on a TV show, like on The Food Network, or The Travel Channel. We're down to a core group of two couples (there have been many months with more than a dozen in our group).
First Impressions:
As
this establishment is situated in the corner of a modern strip center,
it didn't stand out. Upon entering, the dining are was very clean, with
multiple booths and tables, at which to sit. There was an
abundance of parking available.
The Service:
The
Wife and I were the only customers at the time that we walked in, so I was asked if I could sit where I desired, while awaiting the other couple.. Before I sat down in the booth, I questioned an employee that I took to be the "Chef" about his recommendations. He informed me of what he liked to eat, and what dishes were popular with the guests.
The Menu:
The menu
contained chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles, and chicken tacos, Apple wood smoked ribs, a dish called Sleezy Chicken, and Hog Heaven. Most dishes come with "Shack" sauce, in 4 increasing heat levels (None to Texas Hot).
What I ordered:
Two of us ordered the Sleezy Chicken I personally ordered my dish be prepared with Texas Heat (reportedly made with Habaneros). The other Sleezy was with Medium heat. An order of the tacos, and a quarter-rack of ribs with a side of Mac-N-Cheese rounded out our table.
The Food:
Everything
that we ordered was fantastic, and prepared correctly. All four of us liked our meal a lot.
Value for Money:
The prices ranged
from $10 to $15, for a standard dish. Overall, I feel that this price range is good, and the portions were ample for a Fat Paramedic.
Would I Return?
Absolutely. All of the food tasted great and the price/portion was more than fair.
